Last night notorious nightlife legend Chris Paciello celebrated his birthday at FDR; the Delano Hotel’s still kinda new subterranean lounge. The evening started off in the back bar where there was no shortage of beautiful people. Trendy guests sipped cocktails and jammed to old school hip hop. I fancied myself with a glass of champagne. (And yes I said fancied). The vibe was electric and everyone was anticipating the night’s special guest; Grammy winning rapper and actor Method Man. Little did I know that I would be having a close encounter with him.
A little past midnight, we were all allowed into the main area where the dancing began. It wasn’t long before bottles began making their way to tables all over the lounge.
When Method Man arrived he immediately grabbed the microphone to sing some of his biggest hits. The Wu Tang Clan member was bursting with energy as he walked into the crowd, around tables, and jumped on top of sofas. When Method Man sang his award winning song “I’ll Be There for You/You’re All I Need to Get By,” the place went wild. That song dates back to 1995 when he recorded it with R&B star Mary J. Blige. It won them the Grammy and went down in history. It’s been 18 years since the song made its debut but time is irrelevant. Guests that night knew every word and they sang along as they waved their hands in the air. He wrapped up the night by wishing Chris a happy birthday and then sang “Da Rockwilder”; leaving everyone wanting more.
Though Method Man was done performing, the party was far from over. The DJ continued to play hip hop’s hottest tracks and the drinks continued to flow.
Thought the evening did eventually come to an end, the memory of that night will go on. Especially since Method Man came right at me. LOL. Good times! Want to see what that looks like? Check it out here:
